BILLY CORGAN: Emo quotes galore!

Billy Corgan performed for 200 people at the Che Cafe Sunday night with his Sky Saxon tribute band, Spirits in the Sky.

Here are a few of his quotes that didn't make it into the newspaper:

Before he played a poppy new song, "Widow Wake My Mind":

"It's the dreaded audience participation moment, I figure it works for Green Day."

After the audience laughed, he added, "I hate most bands but I actually like Green Day."

When someone asked him mid-set how he was doing:

"I found through the years audiences don't care how I'm doing. You all say you care until you don't get a picture and an autograph."

Introducing a new song, "West Coast":
"This song is about the devastation of the West Coast and all it embodies. You know what I'm talking about."

About gruff-style "man-rock" vocals:
"The man voice gets the hits and the hits get the chicks. Like Nickelback."

About Silversun Pickups being compared to The Smashing Pumpkins:

"I think they're a really good band, actually. It's not fair to compare bands like that. At the beginning, we were compared to The Black Crowes and REM."

A random thought:

"This is just a random thought but what's that actor's name? Shia Lebouf? Why is that guy a movie star? Why am I watching him kill transformers?"
