The Official Blink 182 Thread

Hello Nimrods and what a great day it is today!!

Not only is the weather lovely outside, but one of my all time favorite bands might be getting together for a possible reunion. Yes you read the title right, punk rockers, Blink 182 are in talks of making sweet music as a band again.

Bass player, Mark Hoppus has been hanging out with guitarist, Tom Delonge and drummer, Travis Barker. He posted a blog entry about how they've been having "positive conversations. It's a good thing." Hoppus also wrote, "the events of the past two months supersede every thing that happened before."

They have reconnected following Barker's plane incident back in September, we're glad that the worse could be behind them. If you're wondering, there are still no plans for an album release, or even a tour. So l hope everyone crosses their fingers!! All the good news can be found in this link here.

On November 18, 2003, Blink 182 released their self titled album which gave way to hits as, "Feeling This," "Miss You," "Down," and "Always." Robert Smith from The Cure made a guest appearance on the track "All Of This." This album was a major change in the band's style and tone, it showed a more serious side to the trio.

Re: Possible Blink 182 Reunion

Hello hello my fellow Nimrods! What a swell day it is today, hope you're all doing OK.

Other than no school this weekend, you most certainly got something else to look forward to. Remember back when we told you that Blink 182 might be reuniting? Well, the guys are going to be presenting an award at this weekend's Grammys!

A rep confirmed to Rock Daily that the rockers will be on stage one way or another, however, there are no details other than this. Last time they appeared on a stage together was back in December 2004 before the band went on their hiatus.

Mark Hoppus has blogged on his site HiMyNameIsMark!.com that he's hopeful about a possible reunion for the trio. The idea of the guys presenting together was just casually brought up, they will be presenting along with the following acts: Green Day, P.Diddy, Natalie Cole, and LL Cool J.

The Rolling Stone article can be read right here. RS will be at a Grammy Hub for the live coverage of all the happenings at the awesome event. Don't miss all your favorite musicians and stars, it's going to be amazing! The awards air on CBS at 8pm EST.

For more Grammy information, click on The LA Times Blog here. Enjoy it!

The look on Mark's face was awesome, he's so ecstatic to be united again. As for Tom, he seemed kind of nervous. But who could blame him? Being reunited in a band you haven't spoken to in four years, and in front of everyone at an award ceremony! Travis however, had his arm in a sling, so I could understand why he wasn't so hyper about it. Plus, if you watch old interviews, that's the way he always has been.

Re: Possible Blink 182 Reunion/Blink 182 ROCKS!

Howdy Nimrods how are you doing? Hope you had not only a great weekend, but an even better Valentine's Day. Now onto some cool music news!

So we're all aware that Blink got back together when they announced it at the 51st Annual Grammy Awards a few days ago.

I got to tell you that when I saw the show that my heart skipped a beat, and I found it hard to breathe. I couldn't have asked for a better way to kick off 2009 than to have a band I loved since childhood reunite once more.

Since I was 13 years old and in middle school, I have been a die hard fan. All throughout high school, most of my friends and I have listed them as one of our top favorite bands. I attended a concert back in 2004 a few weeks before I graduated High School, and was was absolutely taken aback with how well they performed.

Even now as a young adult, I still relate to their lyrics no matter how oddball or serious they happen to be. They have demonstrated that it was OK not to take yourself so seriously, and that being who you are is always the best way to be.

Some bands that were also influenced by the trio lend their opinion to AP Magazine about their comeback. We'll start with Erik Henning from Polar Bear Club, "I normally don't care for reunions, but for some reason I am really excited that they are actually back together and planning on doing another record. Dick and fart jokes never go out of style".

Also Dave Melillo from Cute Is What We Aim For also offers his thoughts,"I remember listening to Enema Of The State when I was 11 and thinking that music couldn't possibly get much better than this. Even though it did, I still consider that one of the best pop/rock albums of all time. If it weren't for Blink, none of the bands in AP would be able to make a living playing the music they do. Unfortunately, I only got to experience the tail end of Blink's career, so them getting back together gives me another chance to be a fan from the beginning...Kinda.."

Anarbor singer, Slade Echeverria says, "Blink -182 were one of my favorite bands growing up. Their 'I don't give a shit' attitude and humor influenced so many kids at the time, and still do. Blink-182 created a trademark in their scene, I can't wait to see what they do next".

That AP article can be read here.

Rolling Stone has gone back through their archives, and put together a photo album full of the band's vintage pictures. Here's a little look back at some crowning moments just to help you catch up, and get ready for their awesome comeback.

These pictures date back to 1996 when former drummer, Scott Raynor, was still in the band. Until the present time where Travis Barker has taken the drumming throne. Click right here to see!

The guys have posted a message to their adoring fans confirming they will be recording an album for the summer of 2009. Rumors of them touring with Green Day and No Doubt this year hasn't yet been confirmed. Neither has any word of a tour at all. Their website has been updated and has an email and mobile phone sign up for exclusive alerts.

I am so ecstatic that Blink 182 is reunited once again, and I know that several of you feel the same. Welcome back guys!!

Really? Why?

Would it be the part that his plane crashed or the part that he got thrown from the plane that later ignited and killed the other people on the plane with him? Or could it be that he thinks his sling looks silly? lol Damn right he would be shaken

Re: Possible Blink 182 Reunion/Blink 182 ROCKS!

Hey good day Nimrods, how are you doing? Bet you're happy it's finally the weekend! We are too!

I got some cool Blink 182 news for all you Blink fans to enjoy! We have some interviews for you to read and some new pictures for you to check out.

Alternative Press Magazine has interviewed the band's bass player, Mark Hoppus! It is split into two parts, and the questions asked were really good. In the first part of the interview, they chat about everything from the reunion of the band, rumors and much much more.

We begin by discussing what went through Hoppus's head during their speech on the Grammy's.

"That I wanted a piece of gum. Good thing, Travis had some because my breath was just rotten. I didn't want to go out onstage in front of a bunch of people with bad breath, you know? You don't want that."

He also speaks about how happy the reactions have been about the guys getting back together. All in all, it has been great!

To be honest, it was really gratifying that the reception has been so strong since we announced that we were gonna continue with Blink 182. It's really made me super happy.

This Blink 182 member also spills on whether or not it was awkward the news about them presenting at the ceremony was leaked in advance.

No. To be honest, I was really surprised that the secret kept as long as it did. There were so many people that had to know what was going on for us to be there that for it to come out two or three days beforehand, it was pretty cool, actually. Because then people watching exactly what we were gonna say or if we were going to perform live or what the deal was, so it was good to have everyone watching when we finally announced it.

Here he speaks about the actual reunion itself, and what exactly brought it to be.

Probably a couple weeks after we first started talking. I dunno, maybe it was longer than that. But I remember sitting in our studio--me, Travis and Tom--and we were just talking and hanging out. Tom had just kind of come out to L.A. for the day, and I remember he said, "So what do you guys think? Where are our heads at" And I said, "I think we should continue with what we've been doing for the past 17 years. I think we should get back on the road and back in the studio doing what we love doing."

The guys haven't yet played any material live, but he does admit they have a handful of new songs and ideas.

We still haven't. We haven't been in the same studio playing instruments together at the same time. The way we're writing songs now is coming up with different ideas. We're still in the beginning of writing the album. We have a handful of songs that have many stages. I have probably ten different song ideas that I've brought to the table, and Tom has a bunch of ideas, and Travis has ideas. So we kind of start off with something that maybe I'll work on in the studio for a while and I'll show it to Tom and he'll jump on that. Same with Travis but we haven't sat down as a band together and been three people in a room playing songs together.

For the last question of the part one interview, he is asked about guitarist, Tom Delonge's other current band, Angels And Airwaves. You may be surprised what his reaction to the whole thing really is.

The first time I heard I feel like I listened to it objectively. With all the other stuff aside, as a fan of music and as a fan of Tom's music, I hope I was able to listen to it objectively.

Now for the second part, Mark speaks about the new album, performing together as a band again, and other cool stuff!

When asked about what direction they have in mind for the upcoming album, it is still unknown what will happen.

I think we're all in the mind space of anything is possible with this record. It's just like we felt with the last Blink record. If we want to write a song that's inspired by electronic stuff, we'll go that way. We still love playing straightforward rock songs on drums, bass and guitar, so there'll always be a lot of that. We're not really feeling restricted in any way, and that's what felt really great about the last Blink record. I think it will be a continuation of that.

The bass player also clears up rumors about Forever The Sickest Kids touring with Blink this upcoming summer.

That was a complete coincidence.

You may be wondering if he has ever heard that of that band's music at all.

I have not. I've heard about that comment and whether we're going to be touring with them, but I have not been able to that band yet. It seems like I don't listen to a lot of new music lately, and I'm kind of ashamed of that. I kind of stick with a few CD's that I love and I end up listening to those over and over again.

AP asked about whether or not Hoppus knows anything about the future of Plus 44, who went on hiatus a few months ago.

I don't consider it done. We'll never say never with anything. As soon as you say, "I'm not gonna do that anymore," you find yourself in a situation where you wanna do that. Shane Gallagher and Craig Fairbaugh are awesome guitarist and great fun to play in a band with, so we definitely wont say the band is done. But obviously, for foreseeable reasons, all our energy is going into Blink 182. This isn't a temporary thing, we aren't even calling it a reunion. It's more of a continuation. When I hear a band is doing a reunion, it just sounds fake to me, and that's not how we are with this. Everybody's putting a 100 percent of their effort into continuing what we've always done. It's not like we're just gonna do a tour and call it for a while and then do another tour and then call it for a while. We're just continuing Blink 182 as we always have.

The rocker also spills about when he would like to have the record out, and tells AP how many new songs they have prepared all together.

Hopefully in 2009. That's what we're talking about and everything is moving so much faster than I ever even imagined that it could possibly happen. A couple of months ago we were barely talking and now we're six songs into a new album and planning a tour and things seem to be falling into place. So I don't know when the record will actually be out. We're still discovering. It's been very comfortable to be back working as our band -- as Blink 182. It's gonna be a process, but it's a very positive process. We don't feel pressured to have an album out by a certain date. We're just gonna record on our own terms until we have an album we absolutely love.

Part two of this interview with AP can be read by clicking here.

Mark also posted on his blog, HiMyNameIsMark.com some new pictures of the band taken by Michael Muller. Hoppus describes his photography style as, "one of the most amazing photographers in the world." You can check out the pictures here. I personally like the first picture because it's much darker than the second one below it.

That's not all we have for you guys, he also has avatars, and other cool Blink 182 stuff for your computer. Check out these goodies too. If you see the banner way on top, the guys are having new band shirts at recession price. For just $ 10 bucks you can get new shirts with the beefed up logo on it. Act quick because the sale will end this very weekend.

Blink 182 is back! It is official now with their announcement at the Grammy Awards. Blink 182, the pop-punk sensation of the '90s (aka the best band ever) has been broken up for years, each member going off and doing his own project. Tom Delonge created Angels and Airwaves, Mark Hoppus and Travis Barker formed +44, and Barker was also a member of the Transplants. But, will they ever be the same? Will they be better?

They were such a huge sensation in the '90s with hits such as "All the Small Things" and "What's my Age Again?" The band grew over the years in both voice and lyrics. They wrote and sang about sexual humor while also covering more serious topics such as a kid dealing with his parent's divorce in "Stay Together for the Kids." A perfect combination of this is "Feeling This," which showed the tension between both sexual attraction and true love.

Barker was the ultimate star of the band. He is the best drummer I have ever seen. Blink's songs contain very intricate drum beats and Barker always stunned when he played them. Having attempted to play Barker's parts before, I can attest to just how hard they are and what skill he has to do a show playing these songs for up to an hour straight.

After Blink 182 broke up, Hoppus and Barker were not very successful. The Transplants toured at Warped Tour; +44 made some progress and gained some popularity, yet it seemed to have to do with the fact that Hoppus and Barker were already famous. The songs were catchy, but they lacked meaning, quality and diversity with clichéd suicidal lines such as "let's slit our wrists and burn down something beautiful" from the song "No It Isn't."

Angels and Airwaves, on the other hand, did pretty well for themselves as far as popularity. Delonge stole the very talented Adam "Atom" Willard from The Offspring. Delonge drew a lot of his inspiration from the war; his patriotism; and his brother, who is an American soldier.

Delonge has matured through Angels and Airwaves, but will he bring that into Blink 182? His persona in Angels and Airwaves is not the funny, inappropriate Tom Delonge he was in Blink 182. Yet, that is what Blink 182 is known for. If they lose the humor, they might as well call themselves by a different name. As excited as I am that they are back together, I wonder how they will be able to pull off their new album after so many changes. Will they be able to successfully combine mature themes from Angels and Airwaves with the old Blink? Will the band actually last or will they just break up again?

Rumor has it that they will possibly be touring with Green Day this summer. As much as I find Green Day overrated, I am thrilled to see what the new Blink 182 will create. Maybe, just maybe, they will be even better than the old Blink.

Re: The Official Blink 182 Thread

Hola everyone, how are you doing today? Hope you're all OK and doing well!

Blink 182 fans will be excited to know that their beloved bassist, Mark Hoppus has been tweeting about the upcoming tour. MTV.com has posted an article about Hoppus constantly updating!

If you haven't heard the exciting news by now, yes, Blink 182 is back together. They are planning an album for the summer of 2009. The trio broke the news to everyone on February 8th, 2009 at the 51st Annual Grammy Awards when they presented the Best Rock Album to Coldplay.

Some of Mark's updates include spending the day at Skywalker Ranch, getting cool "Star Wars" gear while at the ranch, and bumper to bumper traffic in Los Angeles, California. Waking up at inhumane hours of the morning, he lets everyone know he'll be heading into the studio to work on some sweet tunes! One of his Tweets is, "doing producer stuff...listening to music, making notes, coming up with ideas. I love this so much. Music is so much fun."

Even thought that does not elaborate on anything Blink 182 related, he did say something somewhat related on Tuesday, "good Blink meeting, tour will be fun." There still aren't promised tour dates, but he promises it will be an amazing experience.

But all this discussion about the band still leaves some question on whether or not Hoppus will continue to produce and help out other bands. On March 10th, 2009 New Found Glory released their last album, "Not Without A Fight", which Mark helped produce. Just 20 hours ago or so, he tweets, "Looks like NFG's album is debuting in the TOP TEN!!!!! Those dudes are ruling it right now. Congrats to them!!"

Even with getting work done for his own band, he adds that he will still use his producing powers to make platinum records. He helped out Motion City Soundtrack in 2005 when he produced "Commit To This Memory". The article states that it could have been possible he got demos from MCS so they can work together again, "in and around the blink madness about to begin I hope I can work on this CD."

Still everything is up in the air, and not set in stone just yet. I am over the moon excited for the in coming news surrounding them. I know 2009 will be an A plus year for the punk rockers, I cannot wait!

You can read this article from MTV here. Have a rockin' day Nimrods!

Re: The Official Blink 182 Thread

Howdy everyone on Nimrod Street! Hope today was really great for you all, we've got some cool stuff to share.

Philadelphia Music site, TheExaminer.comhas posted an article about punk rockers, Blink 182. The title of the article is, "Do We Still Care About Blink-182? I Feel The Answer Is Yes".

It starts off with the year 2005 and the band has finished its last album and world tour, bands like Fall Out Boy and The Killers are gaining more and more popularity. However, Blink has just announced its "indefinite hiatus."

It goes into the details of both guitarist, Tom Delonge and bassist, Mark Hoppus reason to call off the band, then starting their new side band projects. Delonge went to form space like rock band, Angles And Airwaves, Hoppus and former drummer, Travis Barker joined forces to make Plus 44.

Exactly three years later Barker is in a plane crash during September 2008. He and a friend, DJ AM were the only survivors. Four other passengers were instantly killed. Thankfully, Travis and DJ AM were to fully recover within a year or less! Both Mark and Tom went to visit their friends in the hospital which sparked conversation between the two. This is when the media started buzzing with possible reunion rumors.

The guys made an appearance February 8th, 2009 when they announced on stage at the 51st Annual Grammy Awards they were officially back. From that day on, their website changed and it included a promise for Summer 2009 to tour world wide with a new album release.

Since they have reunited, the guys are all over the media! The question still remains, do fans and other music lovers still care about Blink 182? It's totally obvious the music industry is on its toes and excited for summer. On his blog, Mark Hoppus posted a one liner message for fans to look out for changes on all the guys' sites, "keep your eyes open on the blink-182 sites in the next day or so for a little something new."

A few days later he also posted a You Tube video from a photo shoot with photographer, Estevan Oriol. It also included a little around their recording studio and a look at some of the instruments they've been using.

Take a minute and a half out of your busy day to enjoy "a little something new" from Blink 182!

Let's kill some rumors.

http://www.gigwise.com/news/50214/Mark- ... FestivalsH

Quote:
There has been strong speculation that the recently reformed group are set to join existing headliners Arctic Monkeys at the festival in August.

But writing on the micro-blog Twitter, Hoppus said: “Blink-182 has not been confirmed for Reading/Leeds Festivals.

“Doesn't mean it won't happen. Love those festivals. But we are not booked yet.”

As previously reported on Gigwise, Blink-182 announced their reformation at the Grammy Awards in February.

Arctic Monkeys were confirmed as the first headliners for this year's Reading and Leeds festivals this morning.

The rest of the line up for the event, which runs from August 28th-30th, will be announced at 7pm tonight (March 30th).

The personal lives of any band member of any band is just that... personal... speculating on rumors that may or may not be true is not healthy for us, the fans, or the people involved in such rumors. Until there is more concrete evidence (Especially since this rumor seems to have started on April Fools) please respect their privacy. It's none of our business anyways. We should just care about the music.

Regardless, we hope for the best.

An inside source has told Buzznet.com that Blink-182 are planning on taking Weezer out on tour this summer. Tour dates has not been confirmed yet though!

There's been a ton of speculation on the Internet, you can read more about these rumors on AbsolutePunk.net! Glad to see it's all set in stone now. He also revealed that Fall Out Boy bass player, Pete Wentz had requested "Stay Together For The Kids", over the Twitter. And just like that it's a done deal!

Awesome! I cannot wait to see these guys again, their last major tour was back in 2004 in support of their self-titled album. You can read the news from Buzznet.com here!

Re: The Official Blink 182 Thread

Hey there Nimrods, how's the weekend going so far? Enjoying yourselves? I hope so!

Last Thursday Blink 182 shot a video for something they wont unveil yet. Their record label, Interscope, didn't provide any helpful information either.

Mark Hoppus wrote on his blog, HiMyNameIsMark.com, that Blink started rehearsing for the first time in years. Fans were over the moon excited just to know their favorite trio were making sweet music again.

He also sent an email to MTV.com revealing details about this mysterious video shoot. Without saying too much, he did let us in on some cool info, "it's definitely not what it seems to be. It's really not a music video shoot, and it's not really a movie shoot. It's something that no other band has done, and the technology behind it is ridiculous. I don't even know how to explain it."

Some pictures leads the fan to believe it's all going to be shot on a green screen, but Hoppus is vague about that as well, "I can tell you this... when everything is finished, you wont be seeing a big green wall behind us. It'll be a different shade of green, more of a forest-y green. But they have to do that digitally, as we couldn't find forest-green paint."

Can't wait to see what Blink has in store for us! The band are planning on making an album and a tour by this summer. Should be interesting!

Re: The Official Blink 182 Thread

Hello, rise and shine everybody! Glad to have you with us.

After months and months of rumors of Weezer touring with Blink 182, it is now official they will indeed be hitting the road with the SoCal trio.

That's not all, Fall Out Boy will also be another supporting act for the trio's upcoming summer tour. The All-American Rejects dropped hints about touring with a recently reunited band, it is still unknown whether or not this is true.

The news was first reported in this month's Rolling Stone, then bassist Mark Hoppus' blog, HiMyNameIsMark.com, and finally set in stone by Blink's label, Interscope.

Yes kids, gear up for this triple threat coming at you sooner than you may expect! This tour begins July 24th and will run until sometime in October. According to Rolling Stone tickets will run from $20 all the way to $60, not bad right?

Mark discussed with RS they'll be a mix of classic tunes and a few new tracks from the new album coming out this year. Since the guys will tour for the first time in four years, the guys are getting "artistic". They've recruited Kanye West's set designer to really pump up this tour.

Hoppus told the magazine, "we want to use the entire arena as a lighting rig and stage. We're being as ambitious as possible."

Remember how we mentioned that AAR may or may not be on the road? A spokesperson for Interscope says there's an "official announcement about the tour coming next week". Could mean there's more acts or an even better surprise on the way very soon!

You can read all about this on MTV.com!

Re: The Official Blink 182 Thread

Howdy homeslices how are you doing today? We're doing super!

Blink 182 played their first gig in four years at a T-Mobile party at Paramount Studios in Los Angeles, California Thursday night. The Southern California trio are back and better than ever, what are their thoughts on this reunion?

"Awkward, weird...a little standoffish. Me and Travis are on one side of the studio, behind a brick wall, and Tom is outside the wall knocking. You ever seen that episode of 'The Odd Couple' where they drew the line down the middle of the room? Yeah, it's kinda like that," Mark Hoppus tells MTV News.

Tom Delonge chimes in his thoughts, "and there's a couple holes where we stick various parts of our bodies through. It's really super strange and weird. But it rocks."

There's more on the big reunion tour happening this summer, the trio will hit the road with Fall Out Boy and Weezer. Also, they'll have another set of opening acts such as, Taking Back Sunday, Panic at the Disco, Asher Roth, Chester French, and according to the MTV article, All-American Rejects. I guess that takes care of that buzzing rumor!

Along with the slew of great supporting bands, what else is there to look forward to? LASERS! Lots and lots of shiny, colorful lasers!

Delonge shares what to expect from this huge tour, "I think it's gonna be amazing. There are amazing bands, they're all big. When we started talking about doing the tour again...we had all these options start popping up. It was really amazing to be able to end up on the bands we had. Usually when you go out on tour, there's a lot of negotiations as far as time and who can do what and when they can do it, or whatever...I'm gonna be honest right now. The tour is gonna be good. Mark, after fucking 17 years, might let me have some lasers!"

"It's true, Lasers broke up our band at one point, and now it's lasers that are bringing us back together," Hoppus jokes.

Billboard.com posted an article about summer tour plans for the reunited punk rock trio. The guys will rock out on a 50-date North American tour playing in amphitheaters. It kicks off July 24 at the Joint in Vegas, and ends October 3rd at Borgota Events Center in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

Martin Phillips has been hired to work on designing the set, he's worked with Kanye West, Daft Punk and Nine Inch Nails. The band's bass player describes his awesome stage set as, "the most ridiculous display of lights and images we can imagine."

Blink's manager, Rick Devoe, lets Billboard in on some rumors, "the word on the street is that this tour is about the hits. As the rehearsals go by, we're hoping to have at least one new song in the repertoire."

If you're scrapped for cash for tours this summer, you'll be happy to know that amphitheater lawn passes will be accessible to anyone, "if you have $20, you get in. No fees or anything," Devoe shares.

Tickets for this tour go on sale nationwide May 30th at livenation.com, tour sponsors include: T-Mobile Sidekick LX, State Farm Insurance and Myspace.

When October comes around, Blink has agreed to play a gig at Australia's Big Day Out and other music festivals around Europe in 2010. "That's what I'm hoping is going to happen. And in between these tours is when they're going to be working on an album," Devoe says.

There are no plans for another US tour until their next album is released. Due to to Blink's families, some of which live in different cities, "everyone has got full lives. It's a different Blink, in the sense that you have to pick up your kids up after school, and one of your kids has dance class and the other kid has this," shares their band's manager.

Blink's tour in 2004 drew in 421,000 fans and racked up a nice $14.4 million from a total of 42 gigs as stated in Billboard Boxscore. Their self-titled album from 2003 sold 2.2. million copies in the states according to Nielsen SoundScan.

See the full tour schedule here.

Here's a video of Blink's Thursday night gig, enjoy it guys!

Re: The Official Blink 182 Thread

Hello everybody, how's it going with ya'll so far? Hope it's all good!

MTV.com posted some news concerning Blink 182 and their upcoming reunion tour, and since being away for so long, it's nice they still have their sense of humor.

The guys made their first radio appearance May 18th on KROQ's Kevin & Bean's show. The punk rockers talked about getting back together, the summer tour and jokes made between Mark and Tom during their surprise show in Los Angeles.

Guitarist Tom Delonge joked about his other side band, Angels & Airwaves, "I need to apologize. For the past few years I've been doing this serious stuff. And then the first song we came out and play, and I come right out and ask people if they masturbate to the 'Lord of the Rings' ...it was crazy."

Looks like things are back to normal with the band, hysterical sense of humor and all. Delonge and his bandmate, Mark Hoppus killed some rumors that Delonge looked kind of uncomfortable during Grammy night.

Hoppus said, "let me address this...here's what happened. We show up at the Grammys, Travis and I were there for an hour before we're supposed to go on...they sent Tom a car for him that never showed up. So, he's not there, and literally the lady was like, 'If you don't have a full band in 30 seconds, we're cutting you from the show.' And, like, Tom walks in, they send us to a holding area and then it's like, 'GO!' "

Delonge goes on to joke, "I think people thought we were like the crew dudes. People were confused."

Moving on to tour! Big news of the year, the guys will embark on a three month tour starting July 24th and ending in October. Tom has promised fans the show will include lasers, and Mark has sworn to an amazing light show. During the KROQ show, the band took caller suggestions to give their tour a name! However, there was only one winner, "One-Way Ticket to Boneville."

Our beloved bassist laughs, "we've had some good names in the past...'Poo-Poo Pee-Pee,' 'Race Around Uranus,' that one tour where we had the F-word written in flames. But I kind of like 'One-Way Ticket to Boneville.' I don't know if anything's going to top that."

In more Blink news, they'll be on the cover of the July 2009 issue of Alternative Press Magazine. On the cover, they're quoted as saying, "we wanna take the biggest shot that we possibly can." They want to assure everyone not to call this a reunion! It'll be in newsstands soon, should be good!

As far as album news goes, the guys are busy in the studio recording their follow up to the 2003 self-titled record. Don't expect to hear more than one new song on the tour though. Hoppus says for now, it's all about the hits, "I think that people want to hear the old stuff right now. I think that people want to relive the old times, and the people who haven't seen Blink yet want to see the songs they've been listening to the past few years. We'll throw in some new stuff, but this is about reforming as a band and playing the songs that we grew up playing."

It is still unknown whether or not the Blink men will debut their official single before the tour starts later this year in Las Vegas. Keep your fingers crossed!

They're still signed to their label, Interscope, "Interscope will be putting out our next record, but I don't know if hte song will be coming out as a release- a for-sale version for the tour or not, or if we'll just debut it for the tour and let it sit it in...badly-played live editions," according to Mark.

Read this article from LA Times here.

On top of all this good news, the Blink boys have returned to performing on live television. The trio ripped through their 2001 hit, "The Rock Show" on The Tonight Show With Jay Leno!

Watch a clip of the guys in action below, enjoy!

Re: The Official Blink 182 Thread

Hello Nimrods how are you doing today? Hope it's all good!

Travis Barker of Blink 182 speaks to MTV about the new single, "Up All Night", and describes it as 'Heavy.' Barker also talks about how the band got inspired quickly for the upcoming project, "we all got together and met up, almost immediately, we got inspired. So it went from just playing around together to being like, 'Let's lay down demos! And Tour!' "

He also told MTV news that it's all been an insane whirlwind, "And, to be honest, it was crazy. I was still recovering from all my surgeries, and was way out of it when we first got back in there. I was in no shape to be in the studio, and we were kinda held back a bit. We decided to just get used to playing with each other again."

Once they got the heavy laser packed tour all set up, it just started making sense from that point on, "We just started practicing for the tour, going through the old shit, playing the greatest hits-only we'd start experimenting on them a bit, working on different versions. So, it ended up that some of the old songs have new flavor to them, and then we also got around to making four demos, including one song that's pretty much complete."

Back to the new single, according to Travis, adoring Blink fans can expect to hear it during the summer tour. He says it's "a logical step" from their last release back in 2003, which set a darker, mature tone for the quirky trio. He hints at where the band may be headed, "when we do go in, its gonna be like that. You can't help but have everything on the table...all the stuff we've done-like +44 and Angels & Airwaves-since we last played and recorded, it will influence the new stuff," Barker also adds, "in the case of 'Up All Night,' it feels like it could've been on the last record, or right where the last one left off. It's kind of heavy, if you mixed Box Car Racer and Blink. It all makes sense. The pieces are all together."

There's no set date for their album release, but Barker told MTV that they'll begin recording after the tour is done. The drummer also said they'd be working on it while out on the road, "I'll have the studio out on tour with me, and I think Mark will too. I wanna work on it while we're on tour. But that's just me. I'm taking it day-by-day. Loving life. Working."

For those of you who couldn't catch the band on Jimmy Kimmel last night, here's a video of the guys playing live! Enjoy it everyone.

Hey there everyone, what's going on? Hope you're all doing super dooper!

We've got some nifty updates on the always rockin' Blink 182 clan including news on their upcoming album, how to score free tickets, and that mysterious green screen video that was top secret.

Gibson.com listed Blink as one of the top five releases they can't wait for, it also goes into a brief list about the events over the past year. After you're all caught up, you'll see minor details about their sixth studio record. Guitarist, Tom Delonge, has described the new Blink tune as a mix of Boxcar Racer, Angels & Airwaves, but still keeping that lovable Blink 182 sound.

There are no official release date as of yet, however 2010 seems like a reasonable bet! We'll hopefully be able to see the first new awesome tracks since the band dropped their self-titled disc in 2003!!

You all want some tour info? USAToday.com has posted an article on how you can snag some free tickets to the group's reunion tour this summer. It does come with a price, and we're not talking about how much they are on Ticketmaster.com either.

Even though any trace of free passes have been snagged by Virgin Mobile's FreeFest, the party doesn't just stop there. Promoters for August 30th music festival in Merriweather Post Pavillion, has gathered 3,000 tickets for fans of the band willing to help out with volunteer work for homeless youth.

So here are three options for you to score guaranteed entrance to the hottest event of the summer!

* Extending your generous hand at thirteen hours of service at certain organizations will give you awesome VIP passes.
* For eight hours of volunteering, you'll be up close with super cool general admission.
* If you already have your tickets, all it takes is donating five bucks to seal the deal.

Ron Faris from Virgin Mobile USA assures you that you're doing a world of good by helping out, "social giving is at an all-time low. There are 2 million young people out there ages 12 to 24 who are homeless. So we're willing to eat the cost of a $100 ticket, if people can just donate $5 to help homeless youth organizations that have been decimated by this economy."

One of the rare festivals can be attended absolutely free, and will be headlined by Weezer, Blink 182, Franz Ferdinand, and Public Enemy. Of course anything that's free is freaking awesome right?

"Free gets more publicity for Virgin and the bands. From the band's perspective, Merriweather is a great place to play, the fans are appreciative of the free tickets, and that goodwill will transfer to the bands' performances. And the charity component should be commended. Virgin didn't have to add that."

But can we look forward to more free shows anytime soon? Bongiovanni says you better jump on this deal quick, "this kind of gesture isn't going to be replicated anytime soon. After all, not many people can write a check that big except for Sir Richard Branson."

In other Blink related news, remember back in April we told you about how bassist, Mark Hoppus discussed this mysterious green screen music video they were shooting? If you've been following him on Twitter, you'll see he finally let the cat out of the bag on what exactly the trio were up to.

Doritos presents an amazing virtual experience with Blink 182 and Big Boi. Purchase a special edition bag of Doritos Late Night chips starting July 6th, this will also be the ticket into a sold out late night gig.

Check out this link to be part of this event!

Be sure to enter your email address to the right to get tip top updates on Blink hitting the stage!

If you're a major Blink fan, I suggest you jump on this right away!

Here's a video of the guys in action!

Have a great day Nimrods---- EDIT ----

Re: The Official Blink 182 Thread

Howdy there peeps, how are you doing?

Tour-a-la Blink 182 will officially begin starting July 23nd in Las Vegas. According to clashmusic, Hoppus told Rolling Stone that not only is he super excited, but is ready to show fans they still got it!

"We can't wait, it's a strange feeling to have, after not touring with Blink for the past five years, to think that in just a few days, we'll be hitting the road and playing all of these sold-out shows."

"All of our techs have been down there to see the strange set up, and they're e-mailing me, going, 'Oh my God, there are so many speakers, just so many lights.' I haven't seen it myself, but the pictures I've seen look ridiculous. Everything kind of moves and joins and separates to make these huge video screens, so its pretty complicated."

He also admitted that many concertgoers who haven't ever seen Blink perform, will see them in a whole new light, "really, it's kind of a reintroduction to the band. We're going to be playing all of the singles, and all of our favorite songs from our past records."

Speaking of getting back together, Blink's reunion is making its way onto a new documentary. Vegas Weekly got first dibbs on some juicy details from Mark himself.

"We've been filming it for a couple of months now. Throughout the rehearsal, and getting ready for tour, and on tour, and when we get back home and get in the studio. It's cool because the people who are putting the movie together are really good friends of ours and they're really talented."

These guys are known for their carefree style and outrageous sense of humor, something Hoppus and the gang haven't lost yet, "we're all in our 30's now, so you would expect that we'd have grown up, but that's not really the case. I'm kind of ashamed/delighted to know that I'm 37 and still laughing at stuff that I did when I was in high school."

Close friends working by your side can have its advantages, especially when you need time away from the cameras, "when we ask them, 'Yo, dude. I don't feel like having a camera in my face right now,' they're pretty respectful. And they're really, really talented, so you couldn't ask for much more."

This is not the first time the trio will have their lives captured on camera. Ten years ago they released a DVD called, "The Urethra Chronicles", giving everyone a backstage pass into the world of being a punk rock band! Then in 2002 they made the sequel, "The Urethra Chronicles II: Harder, Faster. Faster, Harder."

There's more where that came from because on October 9th a week after concluding their tour, Hoppus and guitarist, Tom Delonge, will join other musicians in a documentary film, "One Nine Nine Four". It's a flick about the explosion of punk rock in the 90's. Directed by filmmaker Jai Al-Attas and narrated by skater extraordinaire, Tony Hawk.

Along with this, there's more from our beloved bass player. He did a Q and A with Las Vegas Sun where they discuss new Blink merchandise, what drove them back together, and a new album in the works!

It's all very awesome in the world of Blink right now, looking forward to what they have to offer us this time around!

Quote:
LAS VEGAS — On Thursday night, Blink-182 returned to the stage with a thoroughly raucous, incredibly profane, genuinely thrilling performance at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino. Kids cried, older dudes moshed, and Blink guitarist Tom DeLonge weaved an incredible tapestry of onstage boner jokes. In other words, it was just like old times.

On Friday — some 18 hours removed from the show — DeLonge, bassist Mark Hoppus and drummer Travis Barker were still slightly hoarse and somewhat bleary-eyed from it all ("We battled our nerves the only way we know how," DeLonge laughed. "We got drunk.") They were officially one sold-out show into their massive reunion tour, and, to be honest, it was going to take a couple more gigs before they realized that this was all really happening. "It's really strange, because somehow breaking up for five years and going through all this heartache and animosity and everything else — somehow that was the best thing that ever happened to our band," Hoppus laughed. "And I don't know how that is, but ... it's really gratifying and strange and humbling to think that right now, it's really cool to like Blink-182. We've always existed outside that reality, and loved that, but now to come back and have our tour sell like this, I think it's strange for all of us. I'll speak for all of us here, OK?"

DeLonge and Barker nodded in agreement. To them, the sold-out first night of their tour (which continues Tuesday night in Vancouver) was some sort of bizarre dream come true. They said they didn't know how fans would react when they announced they were reforming back in February and that they organized a tour not knowing if people would care. After all, there was no new album to promote, no new single to work into the set (much-discussed new tune "Up All Night" isn't ready yet). The success of their tour rested firmly on Blink's formidable back catalogue.

"It's so humbling to think that, going away for five years, then coming back, that the shows are selling as well as they are and so many people are excited," Hoppus laughed. "We didn't know what was going to happen when we reformed, we just wanted to play music some more. And to have all these shows sell out and have the response be what it is, it's just crazy to us."

And while the tour was only one show old when MTV News sat down to chat with Blink (a second, Friday-night show at the Hard Rock also sold out), you could tell that, though the early success was surreal, it was also emboldening. Which means that, if Blink haven't rolled through your city yet, consider yourself warned.

"We're only going to play a couple of places with other bands ... like festivals and stuff. I think that, um, I wouldn't want to be in any of those other bands at this point," DeLonge said. "I think we're willing to do or say anything onstage. It's one of those things where I'm almost nervous about what we're going to say or do on this tour as we progress, because what we've always done is we push each other further and further to see what kind of obscenities [we can say]." "Raising the bar," Hoppus interjected, smiling. "We're raising the bar."

There's a pretty good chance you'll hear just about every Blink-182 song imaginable on their current reunion tour ... and more than a few dirty jokes too.

With a back catalog that spans a decade, and a set that stretches nearly two hours (not to mention an average song length of something around four minutes), Blink have been throwing just about everything into their recent shows, with one notable exception: "Up All Night."

Since the tour kicked off last week, Blink fans have been clamoring for the band to play "Night," the lone new song they had completed before hitting the road. In early interviews, Blink had promised to unveil the song during the tour, but so far, no dice. And from the sound of things, that's not going to change anytime soon. "We might possibly [play it], but probably not, though," bassist Mark Hoppus said. "We haven't finished recording it yet, and we really don't want the first time that people hear our new song to be a YouTube version of us playing it live. We want it to be the actual song, and we haven't gotten the chance to finish it yet, so we'll probably leave it out of the set until we actually release it."

While "Up All Night" — which was originally titled "The Night the Moon Was Gone" (guitarist Tom DeLonge's daughter thought that name up, BTW) — might not be finished yet, Blink are still endlessly proud of it.

"It's an awesome song. We [just] haven't done a recording of it yet," DeLonge said. "But I don't even know if we would have room for it, we have so many songs in this set."

"Yeah, we're playing a lot of songs," Hoppus added. "We're playing the most we can without being charged for going over [time] each night."

And cutting even further into that set time are a couple of jammy takes on older numbers like "Down," "Miss You" and "Stockholm Syndrome," which stretch past their original running times and showcase Blink as you've probably never seen them before: ridiculously tight, professional pop-punk machines. After all, they've been doing all this rehearsing — they might as well show off a bit.

"Having Travis in the band, he's the foundation of what we do," DeLonge said. "So Mark and I can huddle around him and follow what he does. We have a couple spots in the set where we really can cruise. It is improv, and it's the kind of thing you don't normally see with a band of our style, and I think it's stuff we'll do more of in the future. ... What's really cool now, aside from the fact we're having so much fun, is the fact that the band is tight. I think we're playing better now than we ever have."

On Tuesday night, during Blink-182's show at General Motors Place in Vancouver, British Columbia, Travis Barker finally unveiled the full version of his much-hyped, gravity-defying, head-spinning drum solo.

Needless to say, it was pretty epic. And worth the wait.

A week earlier, during a "friends only" warm-up gig at the Forum in Los Angeles, Barker had done the routine — which features his drum riser levitating, swinging from side-to-side and turning upside down — and shaky camera-phone footage of the stunt quickly began to make the rounds. Barker did a stripped-down version of the solo during Blink's first two shows in Las Vegas, as the venue was too small for the full routine. So, finally, on Tuesday, with some 15,000 Blink fans cheering him on, in a spot big enough to support his rigging, Barker gave the public what they were clamoring for: a three-minute, 360-degree drum clinic. Footage of the solo, which seems reminiscent of Tommy Lee's aerial drums solos in Mötley Crüe's heyday, has already flooded YouTube.

When MTV News was out in Vegas for the kickoff of the Blink tour, we asked Barker about the stunt. Turns out, he just sort of winged it. After all, he's been doing it for years.

"[The idea] happened like a month ago. Someone brought it up, like, 'What are you doing for the drum solo, Trav?' And I was like, 'Uh-oh.' But I was up for the challenge," Barker laughed. "The first [time I did a solo on tour], I was on fire, and the kit was rotating. The second time, I went upside down — and upside down is kind of the gnarliest thing you can do. So then, this one was like, 'How can you make me even more uncomfortable, or sideways, or fly me in the air?' So, I kind of just let [the stage techs] do their thing, and I go up there and play my drums."

"It's like Travis set a precedent for himself that he has to up the ante every single time," Blink bassist Mark Hoppus added. "He did it to himself."

And while the drum solo is undoubtedly one of the highlights of Blink's set, it wasn't the only anti-gravity act the band was planning. "I'll be honest with you, the drum solo wasn't even the first idea," guitarist Tom DeLonge said. "Remember the vocal solos we were gonna do, on that same rig?"

"Yeah, we were gonna spin around, go upside down, and just do scales, vocally," Hoppus answered, before breaking into a vocal warm-up. "You know, just strap in and sing."

Of course, Barker had to one-up them. And in the end, it seems like they all made the right choice.

Blink182's reunion tour has been a runaway success, and not just because they've proven that they haven't lost a step. No, it's the reaction they've gotten from fans, who have flocked to the shows en masse, selling out arenas across North America and snapping up merchandise with reckless abandon. To be honest, Blink are a little blown away by it all. See, when they first announced they were hitting the road again, they had no idea how fans would react — or even if they still had fans."When we booked this tour, we had no expectation of anything. We didn't know if people were going to come to the shows, if they weren't, if anybody still cared about Blink, for that matter," bassist Mark Hoppus laughed. "We knew some people were still excited about it. We were definitely excited about it, but, um, our booking agent was just, like, losing his mind for three months straight, booking this tour, and then tickets went on sale, and all these shows sold out in an hour, two hours, a day, and everyone's jaw dropped."

It's not much of a stretch to say Blink are having the time of their lives on tour — Hoppus described it as "a really great summer-camp celebration, with all your friends and really good vibes" — which is why they're in no hurry to end it. They've just added another show to the schedule (a massive October 4 gig at New York's legendary Madison Square Garden with Fall Out Boy), and they've already got their next move planned out too.

For the first time in nearly six years, they'll be touring Europe, Hoppus revealed to MTV News on Tuesday (August 11). Dates are still being hammered out, but Blink are most definitely heading back across the Atlantic in 2010.

"The rest of the year, with Blink-182? We will go and continue the recording the process, [and] something I can tell you that nobody else knows is that we are working out details of a European tour at some point, coming up," he said. "All three of us have agreed to go over to Europe in the next year, so we're going to start planning that out. ... It's going to be a busy rest of the year, for sure"

Blink-182 is back -- we know this -- but bassist and front-man Mark Hoppus wants us to know more.

Later this week, I'll bring you a full interview with Mark that includes details on their new CD, his secret work with Leighton Meester and his thoughts on all things Beyonce. But first, let's watch as Mark listens to his first Miley Cyrus song ever. I guess he's been too busy to keep up with the tween-machine, eh?

Blink 182's Mark Hoppus has done production work for Motion City Soundtrack and All Time Low and remixes for Fall Out Boy, so he's become more than adept at twiddling a knob or two. But when he was approached by the people at Motown Records about a new remix project, well, his hands were almost too shaky to twiddle anything.

Motown reached out to a bunch of different artists and producers to remix Michael Jackson and Jackson 5 songs, and they're taking about 15 of those tracks and putting them out on iTunes, as kind of like a tribute," Hoppus told MTV News on Tuesday. "And I don't know how I was lucky enough to get involved in the project — it's a huge honor — because somehow they want me to remix 'ABC' by the Jackson 5.After the initial shock wore off, Hoppus and production partner Chris Holmes got to work on an "ABC" remix, digging through the original Motown 16-track recordings, which was an experience in its own right.

"Just to hear those tracks was just amazing. I mean, Michael Jackson was 12 years old when he sang [the song]," Hoppus said. "And it's just incredible to hear that, and to hear all the individual tracks off that and to get to work off it. It was a huge, huge experience for me."

After listening at length to the original, Hoppus admits that his main focus for the "ABC" remix was basically "not to mess with too much." Which means that there aren't many bells or whistles on his version, just slight flourishes to the original tracks.

"When we listened back to the track, Michael's vocal is really the centerpiece of that whole thing," he said. "So what we did was we went back in, added a few small things here and there — like, I played bass over a few parts, mimicked the bass line and then added some bass overdubs on top of that with a little different melody line.

"We added some different organ sounds, kept it really organic because it was recorded back in the early '70s, so everything has that Motown sound to it," he continued. "We didn't want to try and make it all techno or weird or electronic or anything, it was really about that vocal, so we added some other things in and remixed it in a way that I think really highlights the vocals throughout the song and adds a little new flavor to it."

Hoppus and Holmes wrapped production on the track last week — while Blink-182 were in tour mode — and sent it off to Motown president Sylvia Rhone for final approval.

Hoppus said they got the official thumbs-up on Monday, which means that the remix will see the light of day, presumably alongside tracks by the Neptunes, Dallas Austin and more on the tribute project Michael Jackson: The Remix Suite, which will be released digitally — five songs at a time — starting on August 25, and then collected in a physical album due to hit stores on October 27, according to Universal Motown. "Motown reached out to a bunch of different artists and producers to remix Michael Jackson and Jackson 5 songs, and they're taking about 15 of those tracks and putting them out on iTunes, as kind of like a tribute," Hoppus told MTV News on Tuesday. "And I don't know how I was lucky enough to get involved in the project — it's a huge honor — because somehow they want me to remix 'ABC' by the Jackson 5."

I have to be honest, I wasn't the biggest Blink-182 fan growing up. Sure they were a huge part of the pop culture bang -- "TRL," summer concerts, naked running -- so I knew who they were, and I could definitely recognize their songs. But a Sharpie sign-makin', blue hair-dyin', mosh-pitting fan I was not.

Then I met Mark Hoppus. Then I lied to him about loving his music. Then I actually started to like it. Weird, right? It might be just a mad cow-style spell of adorable he put on me, who knows. Who cares!

I got the chance to cozy up to Blink's front-man and bassist at the SIRIUS radio studio this week. We dove headfirst into his thoughts on all things pop, his work with "Gossip Girl's" Leighton Meester, his first run in with the now shattered Destiny's Child and why Blink-182 actually called it quits (it's goooood).

As for the non-music topics, I found out why the NOH8 Campaign was so important to him, why he chose to join the IMA Awards judging panel and why he's such a competitive parent.

If you are a Blink fan, there are some seriously yummy deets about their new CD in the video too. But if you're not interested in all those small things, try to avoid getting caught up in the shimmering headlights of the Hoppus Express. So peel that morning grapefruit, take your daily vitamin and press play on the video below.

After struggling through a weekend show, Travis Barker's band Blink 182 pulled out of a Saratoga, N.Y., concert Monday, citing the "circumstances surrounding the unfortunate and untimely passing of our dear friend Adam 'DJ AM' Goldstein."

Performances by Weezer, Taking Back Sunday and Chester French were set to continue as planned along with "some special surprises," Blink 182 said in a statement. "We thank all of our fans for their support in this tough time."

Barker, who had been a fellow survivor with Goldstein of a plane crash last year, made it through a difficult performance on Saturday in Hartford, Conn., with a moment of silence dedicated to the celebrity DJ.

Over the weekend, Barker posted a message on Twitter about the passing of his pal. "I'll never forget everything we've been thru and every time i play the drums i'll think of you," he wrote. "My brother is gone. i love u and miss u, i'll never forget all the good times we had."

Tom DeLonge thought Blink-182 had hit the big time five years ago.

"Literally on our last tour, 12,000 was the biggest shows we were doing," says the singer/guitarist, who adds that he was not at all dissatisfied with those numbers. "But it was really an average of 6-to-8,000 people a night. This tour, we're selling 20-to-30,000 tickets within hours, sold out, like crazy ... I have no clue what's going on."

Whatever's happening, DeLonge isn't complaining at all.

"We're so lucky," he says. "It's just like you dream of playing music. You don't ever dream of getting big, and you'll never even contemplate the idea of having it be this big."

For several years, DeLonge wasn't contemplating a world where Blink-182 would ever be part of his life again.

Up until 2004, things had gone very well for the pop-punk trio. The group sold 20 million albums, as albums like Enema of the State (1999), Take Off Your Pants and Jacket (2001) and Blink-182 (2003) became hits that included popular singles like "What's My Age Again?," "I Miss You," "Feeling This" and "The Rock Show."

But while touring behind the self-titled album, tensions mounted.

DeLonge wanted to spend more time at home with his wife and baby daughter, and that meant turning down a proposed 2005 U.S. tour and being less willing to leave home to work on future albums. DeLonge says bassist/singer Mark Hoppus and drummer Travis Barker thought he was attempting to dictate when the group toured and recorded.

"They thought I was trying to control how and when and whatever," DeLonge says. "But that's not where I was coming from. Now it's like everyone understands that."

That understanding might never have been reached, though, had it not been for a tragedy.

After the Blink breakup, Hoppus and Barker formed a new band, +44, which released one album. DeLonge, meanwhile, started Angels & Airwaves, which has released two albums to date. (DeLonge says a third, as well as a companion movie, will be released in early 2010.)

Things were rolling along smoothly until Sept. 20, 2008, when Barker was seriously injured in a plane crash in Columbia, S.C., that killed four other passengers. Upon hearing the news, DeLonge reached out to Barker, expressing his concern and offering his support, and this started a gradual process of all three Blink-182 members reconnecting.

"Honestly, that was the reason why we got back," says DeLonge, noting that until that point, each of the band members had harbored unresolved issues. "Then the plane crash happened, and all of that was put in perspective, and we all kind of realized how stupid all of it was. We literally got over it in a matter of days."

Now Blink-182 is on tour. Hoppus says fans can expect to hear the hits and experience the usual zaniness from the band.

"One of the charms of Blink in the past is we never used to rehearse what we wanted to do," DeLonge says. "But this time we're really putting in a lot of effort. We're spending a lot of time trying to give them the biggest and most crazy rock show that people want to see. But at the same time, we have a tendency to keep it very impromptu in spirit and unpredictable."

Whatever! That's the wrong reasons to like any band, you could've gone without posting all that tbh. I personally love them for their funny, spontaneous style and great lyrics. I've been a fan now for 11 years and will continue to do so till they're ragged and on their deathbeds.

Anyways, yes it's off topic and please contribute something more knowledgeable next time.

The guys of Blink 182 are very happy they still have Travis Barker to kick around and are donating $100,000 to the burn center that saved his life. Travis and his good friend, the late DJ AM were seriously injured in the crash that killed four others.

Following the band's show in Phoenix Saturday night, the issued a statement saying they were donating $100,000 of the concert's proceeds to the Joseph M. Still Burn Center at Doctors Hospital in Augusta, Georgia.

The contribution is being made "in recognition of their tremendous care and aid of Travis Barker through his recovery from the 2008 plane crash."

Well, Travis Barker is in the air again; this time in his new drum set that flies gyrates and moves in different directions. Ironic in many ways since he came so close to death in 2008 during a plane crash.

DRUM! Magazine features Barker on the cover of its October issue and he discusses all of the above. Read on to find out more about Travis Barker, his reunion with Blink 182 and his flying antics.

Travis Barker is receiving rave reviews for his new "fly" drum kit, which MTV described in a July 29 report as "gravity-defying and head-spinning."

DRUM! Magazine, one of Enter Music Publishing's hip, drum/percussion magazines, however, had the scoop when DRUM! contributing photographer, Robert Downs, was invited to the Forum in Los Angeles on July 21 for a pre-drum premiere of Barker's new kit, which flies the friendly skies with ease. And then some.

"I had no idea what Travis was up to," says Downs. "Then as I got a closer look at the riser to take photos, I was amazed." Downs, who is no stranger to Barker, has photographed him three times before and his current shots will be used for the upcoming DRUM! cover story on Barker for the October issue, out September 14.

Editor Andrew Lentz, who interviewed Barker for his fourth DRUM! cover says, "It's a lot more sophisticated than other flying drum kits. It's capable of acrobatics." As for the story itself, Lentz promises you'll see some new sides of Travis Barker. "He's amazingly resilient as a drummer. Despite the crash, the health problems and the drama, he is just very focused as a drummer," Lentz adds.

DRUM!, in fact, has published excerpts from the cover story and more up-to-date info on Travis that had not occurred at press time, such as the untimely deaf of DJ AM. This editorial can be read at http://www.drummagazine.com/features/po ... k-preview/.

"We've really tried to portray Barker's personal resilience since the crash as well as his innovative approach to punk drumming," says Phil Hood, publisher and one of the founders of Enter Music Publishing. "And the website feature gives us the opportunity to provide the reader with more current compelling info regarding Travis and the tour."

About Enter Music Publishing Founded in San Jose, CA in 1992, Enter Music Publishing, Inc. is a leading publisher of hip, drum/percussion magazines, with distribution in 40 countries. Blink-182 plans to head into the studio in January, according to a post on Mark Hoppus' Twitter account.

The band, which reformed in February, was expected to record a new album after a 2010 European tour, but Hoppus' Tweet indicates the band may have pushed-up its timeline.

In his Tweet, Hoppus also said he is listening to demos and might produce a few things before going in the studio with Blink.

Quote:
Brandon Flores wants to make a movie about the early days of Blink-182. The only problem? He can't seem to get Blink-182 involved.

Flores, 24, is a filmmaker who grew up in San Diego (Blink are from nearby Poway, California) idolizing the music and antics of Mark, Tom and Travis, and at the beginning of the year — after a viewing of 2005 docu-drama "Lords Of Dogtown" — he decided that someone should make a movie about the band's early days. And that someone should be him.

"I saw that movie and I thought, 'The guys in Blink deserve a movie like that about them,' " Flores told MTV News. "They have an awesome life, and they're one of my favorite bands. So the idea got in my head, and over the summer — right around the time of the Blink reunion tour — my friends and I started writing a script about their early days."

Called "Blink," the film follows the adventures of Tom DeLonge, Mark Hoppus and original drummer Scott Raynor as they start a band (in DeLonge's garage), begin playing shows and slowly earn a fanbase. It also documents their struggles — including Raynor's exit in 1998 — and ends with DeLonge and Hoppus meeting Travis Barker, forming the Blink that millions of fans know and love today.

Determined to make the film as accurate as possible, Flores and his friends have spent the majority of the year interviewing fans who were at Blink's early shows, and they count Mark's sister Anne's 2001 band bio Tales From Beneath Your Mom as inspiration for the movie. They also began calling Blink-182's management company, with the hopes of securing the rights to a few early songs for the film. So far, no luck.

"We've been trying to get in touch with their management, or even the guys in Blink, because we'd like to use their songs in the movie," Flores said. "Or maybe we could even get the guys to do a cameo in the film."

(MTV News' attempts to reach Blink-182's management for comment proved unsuccessful by press time.)

Even if Flores doesn't get Blink's blessing, he's still planning to make the movie ("I guess we'll just try not to show any Blink songs in it," he said), and, as such, he's begun the casting process, placing ads on Craigslist in the hopes of rounding out the cast. Everything was going swimmingly until one of those ads ended up being linked to on AbsolutePunk.net, which suddenly turned his little movie into very big news and drew the ire of Blink fans everywhere.

"We've been getting a lot of angry e-mails, people asking me why we're making a movie, if the guys in Blink are still alive or saying we're going around trying to make up history, since we weren't there at the beginning," Flores said. "I try to tell them that I'm a Blink fan, and I'm trying my best not to f--- up history. We've been getting help from a lot of fans who were there at the beginning. We want to do this right."

So, armed with some promising headshots ("We've gotten a lot of Marks, and we're close to casting one") and a $55,000 budget, Flores is hoping to do just that. The plan is to start filming "Blink" in April, and Flores and his crew are busy scouting locations. They're also not giving up hope of securing a Blink song or two, or maybe even that elusive cameo — something Hoppus didn't seem opposed to when MTV News contacted him about the film on Monday (December 7), even if he had no idea what we were talking about when we asked him.

"No, I didn't know anything about the movie. I wonder how it pays?" Hoppus wrote in an e-mail. "Should I try out for the part of Tom?"
